mount kilimanjaro

  • Located in Moshi, Tanzania, Mount Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano in Tanzania that has quickly become one of the most popular mountain climbs in the world. In addition to being the highest mountain in Africa, it is also the highest single free-standing mountain in the world at 9,341 feet above sea level and about 16,100 feet above its plateau base. Unfortunately, because of its shrinking glaciers and icefields, Mount Kilimanjaro is also the focus of many scientific studies.

  • Whether it be a Half-Day Photographic Tour, a Full-Day Base Camp Climb, or a 6+ Day Trek, Mount Kilimanjaro has options for people of all ages and physical capabilities. We can take care of everything from all accommodations and meals to make sure that you are able to see and experience this famous mountain that so many, including Brooks, have climbed before!

ngorongoro crater & serengeti national park

  • The Ngorongoro Crater, which was created when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself, is the largest intact caldera in the world. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 measuring 16-19 km in diameter with walls of 400-610m in height. It is renowned both for its geological splendor and for being a natural reserve which is home to some of the densest large mammal populations found anywhere in Africa. Due to the enclosed nature of the Crater, it has virtually formed its own ecosystem in which the animals interact differently than anywhere else in the wild.

  • Serengeti National Park, the largest national park in Tanzania and recognized as a World Heritage Site, is one of the most famous wildlife areas in the world and is considered the world’s oldest protected ecosystem. Serengeti National Park started as a smaller area protected by the British to prevent decimation of the lion population from hunting. The park itself is 5,700 square miles, but the more extensive Serengeti Ecosystem is over 9,600 square miles of protected land from the Ngorongoro all the way to Loliando and Kenya (the smaller Maasai Mara).

  • After spending 1 night in Arusha, TAASA Lodge & Roane Travel Design will help you plan a safari that includes Lake Manyara National Park, The Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, before making your way to TAASA. This trip extension is typically 4 days and includes 2 nights in the Ngorongoro Crater and 2 nights in the central Serengeti. gorilla trekking
in rwanda

  • Notorious for the 1994 gruesome genocide, Rwanda, the so-called land of a thousand hills, is now a safe and increasingly popular travel destination. The country's main attraction, the mountain gorillas, have miraculously survived—even thrived—despite a devastating civil war that brought poachers, settlers and rebel soldiers into their rugged park refuge.

The ethnically motivated war, which attracted worldwide media attention and eventually was made into the movie Hotel Rwanda, resulted in the massacre of at least 1 million people between April and July 1994. Since then, however, the news out of Rwanda has mostly involved positive change and gradual reconciliation. Local and international tribunals have dealt with the perpetrators of the genocide, and the country held its first elections in 1999, paving the way for the unveiling of a democratic constitution and peaceful presidential election in 2003.

The Volcanoes National Park, home to the rare mountain gorillas, reopened in July 1999, and travelers can once again visit these gentle giants made famous by Dian Fossey.

  • After your safari at TAASA Lodge, fly right from Lobo Airstrip (near TAASA In the Serengeti) to Kigali, Rwanda. From there, make your way to Volcanoes national park for 2 nights of adventure - gorilla trekking and golden monkey trekking. Let Roane Travel Design help you plan your extension to Rwanda! - When you inquire about the group expedition, don’t forget to mention you are also interested in an extension!
